Texts I Would've Fallen For at 25 vs. Texts That Impress Me Now (at 35–45)

There’s something wildly entertaining (and honestly a little therapeutic) about looking back at the texts that used to make my heart race at 25 — and comparing them to what actually impresses me now in my 35 to 45 era.

Spoiler alert: one word responses and last-minute plans don’t hit the same anymore.

Let’s take a little walk down memory lane — and celebrate how far we’ve come.

At 25, I Thought These Were Cute:

"U up?"
🥰 Omg, he’s thinking about me at 2 a.m. Soulmates?!

"Come thru 😏"
He wants me to come over without notice... it must be love!

"I'm bad at texting but I really like you"
He’s just shy. I can make this work.

"I don’t believe in labels. Let's just see where it goes."
So deep. So free-spirited. So perfect...right?

"Sorry I ghosted, been busy."
He’s busy! He must have a very important, mysterious life!

At 35–45, Here's What Actually Impresses Me:

"Hey, I booked us dinner Friday night at 7 — hope that works for you!"
😍 A man with a calendar? Sexy.

"Good morning — just thinking about you. Hope you crush that presentation today."
Emotional intelligence. Big yes.

"Just so you know, I'm looking for a real connection — no games."
Clarity is the new romance.

"You mentioned you love art. There’s a new exhibit opening this weekend. Want to check it out together?"
Paying attention? Planning something thoughtful? Elite behavior.

"No pressure at all — just excited to see you when you're free."
Respect, patience, and genuine interest. The trifecta.

Moral of the Story?

At 25, I mistook attention for affection.
At 35–45, I recognize that consistency, kindness, and clarity are the real aphrodisiacs.

At 25, I got butterflies from a "wyd" text at midnight.
At 40, I get butterflies when someone asks how my day went — and actually listens to the answer.

Growth is no longer settling for breadcrumbs and calling it a meal.
Growth is waiting for the five-course experience — the one that feeds your soul.

P.S. If you’re still getting “u up?” texts in your 30s and 40s... it’s not you, it’s a cosmic reminder to raise your standards and delete, block, and thrive. 🌟
